Sixth Quiz: Question: Now that the Ken Burns Jazz series is over, and we all know about the entire history of
jazz, there is a group whose styles and longevity itself span considerable portions of jazz history. This remarkably
versatile group was formed in Houston, Texas, as the Swingsters. During the 50s they forged a reputation as an
R&B group before moving to California where they became known as a jazz group. Their 1961 recording made them
a name in jazz funk for a quarter of a century. Currently there is dispute among the "purists" as to
wether or not this group is currently "jazz" at all. Their founder and pianist was born on February
